Willand Play Areas – Coronavirus precautions

The Parish Council has been asked if it is going to close play areas and parks in light of the current precautions being taken in respect of Coronavirus. In some areas councils have done so.

Currently the answer is NO but like everything else it will be kept under review and scientific based Government advice followed for the future.

In Willand some of the play areas and open spaces are managed by the Parish Council and others by the District Council. Although MDDC has closed the leisure centres they have not closed play areas which are in the open air. Practically it would be difficult to effectively close off areas as some spaces are shared by children and adults.

It is currently advised that parents take responsibility for ensuring that, if their children wish to play outside and use the play areas and open spaces, that the children follow the advised precautions for hand washing and hygiene as soon as they return home.
